Please, vote NO on HB1895 when it comes to the House floor on March 31.
Last year's transgender student athlete law is currently in litigation. Passing this bill will not make it more likely that the state prevails in court.
Our schools should be places where all students find belonging and where they are given the opportunity to be their best. This bill punishes school districts with fines if they provide opportunities to transgender student athletes.
The Legislature should encourage school districts to find more opportunities for all students to participate in sports because of the mental and physical health benefits. And the Legislature should look for ways to expand school funding, not take it away.
