Urgent: Stop return of smuggled monkeys to Cambodia

I’m writing to request that the endangered long-tailed macaque monkeys confiscated from being used by Charles River Laboratories be released to an accredited primate sanctuary in the U.S. rather than shipped back to Cambodia where they will likely be again abused by wildlife traffickers.

It is because of the thorough investigations by the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service and Department of Justice that this situation has been exposed. Sending these exploited and wild-captured monkeys back to Cambodia where they await an uncertain fate will totally undermine the good work that FWS and DOJ have done in exposing monkey laundering in Cambodia.

Please do the proper and humane thing by allowing these endangered animals to go to a sanctuary, rather than truck them thousands of miles again back to Cambodia to face illegal abuses. And please revoke Charles River’s import license if the company is found to have violated the law.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
