With these new technologies that can mimic the voices and faces of politicians, it becomes easier than ever to alter the perception of voters. Seeing is believing after all, and what is more convincing than seeing a video that looks and sounds just like a politician?</p> <p>Misinformation tends to spread faster and further than the corrections that follow them resulting in many people believing the lies and manipulating them into voting against their best interests. Legislation needs to catch up with this rapidly advancing technology and require that deceptive synthetic media and deceptive and fraudulent deepfake usage in political advertising is disclosed - HB 1596 accomplishes exactly that. Support HB 1596 and restrict the deceptive media in our politics.</p>
