<p>I am a concerned New Hampshire resident asking you to support SB537 - a bill allowing the preprocessing of absentee ballots. Preprocessing absentee ballots just makes sense, as we learned during the 2020 election cycle. It lessens the burden on our election officials on election day by allowing clerks to open the outer envelopes to confirm there are no missing signatures. Preprocessing also benefits the voters by giving them advanced notice of ballot defects and additional time to cure any defects. </p> <p>This bill only allows the clerk to open the outer envelope, so this does not pose any sort of privacy or security risk. SB537 is a simple measure that streamlines the election day process for election officials and ensures that we are able to count all cast ballots. I ask that you vote Ought to Pass on SB537 and support our hard working election officials.</p>
