Elders Urge Climate Action from Those Seeking Re-Election in the House

Dear Representative,

I am writing you today as a concerned voter in your district and a member of Elders Climate Action. We are a movement of elders taking action on climate change and urge you to make climate action a priority in 2018.

The science is clear: 97% of climate scientists agree that human-caused climate change is real, urgent and must be addressed.  America has the opportunity to be a leader, in both domestic legislative actions and in our global response to curb rapid progress of climate change. There is little doubt that climate change poses a threat to the health and well-being of our citizens, our economic growth, our national security and our reputation as a world leader.  In addition, there are many new opportunities for economic development in the transition to renewable energy.

If you are seeking re-election, I urge you to make climate action a priority of your campaign, as it is the greatest risk to our future. It is our responsibility to ensure a livable planet for our grandchildren, future generations and all life.  Elders Climate Action is asking for your commitment by signing our Candidates Pledge Climate Action at www.eldersclimateaction.org.  Candidates who have signed the pledge are listed on the Elders Climate Action website.

As a voter, I will vote for candidates for the House of Representatives who commit to action on this urgent issue. Our future and our grandchildren can not wait.

Thank you in advance for taking action on climate change.
