<h3>Dear MPP Wayne Gates,</h3> <h3>Marineland has caused immense suffering for decades, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 whales and the ongoing mistreatment of countless other animals.<br /> <br />In 2024, the park was found guilty of animal cruelty for mistreating bears and keeping them in appalling conditions. While the bears were relocated to a sanctuary, the marine animals remain trapped in dire circumstances.<br /> <br />As of 2023, 37 whales were imprisoned at Marineland, though the current number is unclear. What is clear is that whales do not belong in concrete tanks, where imprisonment causes severe physical and psychological harm.</h3> <h3>We call on the Canadian government to:<br /> <br />● Launch a full criminal investigation into Marineland's management<br />● Prosecute those responsible for animal deaths and suffering<br />● Permanently shut down the facility<br />● Relocate remaining whales to professional sanctuaries<br /> <br />It is time for Canada to take a stand for animal welfare and end Marineland’s legacy of cruelty.</h3>
