I ask you to vote NO on House Bill 304 on Wednesday in the Public Service Subcommittee.
With all the exceptions in the bill, it will be difficult for local governments and schools to know which flags are and are not allowed. That means it will be confusing to implement. This bill will put local governments and school districts in a bind between random individuals suing them based on the state law on the one hand, and their obligations under the First Amendment on the other.
There is no need for the bill because support for the American flag and the Tennessee flag is already strong in our state. Their place is not threatened by any other flag.
Thank you for considering my views.
