We urge you to immediately convene a public hearing with xAI and relevant agencies regarding the indefinite pause of the promised water reuse facility.
The public deserves answers to critical questions: Why has construction been halted, and what progress has been made? What is the timeline for completion? How much water is Colossus I currently withdrawing from the Memphis Sand Aquifer, and how will future operations—including Colossus II—impact overall demand? What does this delay mean for other industrial users who were expected to rely on recycled wastewater?
This facility was presented as a key measure to reduce aquifer withdrawals by billions of gallons annually. Its absence raises urgent concerns about increased strain on our drinking water supply and the enforceability of economic development commitments.
I am asking for swift action to bring transparency and accountability to this issue through a public hearing.
