Stop State Taxpayer Funding of Planned Parenthood

Dear [Your Elected Official],

I am writing to ask that you oppose the inclusion of any funding for Planned Parenthood of Southern New England in the emergency funding bill being considered by the House and Senate on Monday and Tuesday of this week. I have been informed that the legislation will contain a $1 million allocation for Planned Parenthood. I hope this does not occur. At the end of the 2024 session, the General Assembly gave them $3 million with no restrictions. Now they want another million. Will they ever have enough money?
   Despite anyone's personal feelings on abortion, it is just bad public policy to give taxpayer money to an organization that clearly does not truly need it. Planned Parenthood of New England has a very healthy endowment fund of over $45 million. Why do they need more taxpayer funds? The funds targeted for Planned Parenthood could be better used to assist people in our state lacking food, housing and a good education. 
   Please oppose funding for Planned Parenthood in the emergency funding legislation.

Summary

Unless we act, this Monday Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) will receive an additional $1 million in taxpayer money to continue to take innocent life. Planned Parenthood is set to receive these funds during Monday’s session of the General Assembly in Hartford - without the normal open government processes being followed. Planned Parenthood already received an additional $3 million from the General Assembly less than a year ago. You can act now to tell our elected leaders this is unacceptable and should be rejected with “no” votes. PPSNE is the largest provider of abortions in Connecticut. Well over half of the abortions they perform are fully funded by state taxpayers under the Medicaid program.  PPSNE is rolling in money, with a $47 million endowment fund, yet they are turning to Connecticut taxpayers to pay for services they find morally objectionable and simply wrong. The taxpayers of Connecticut should not be forced to fund an organization whose primary business is abortion. Take action now to be heard.
