Dear [Your Elected Official],

<p>I urge you to vote NO on HB327 on Monday in the Naming and Designating Committee.</p> <p>The Legislature can call any month anything they want. Regardless of what any bill says, June is Pride month in Tennessee, across the United States, and around the world.</p> <p>As we often say, "You can't cancel Pride." In fact, the number of Pride celebrations has been growing in East, West, and Middle Tennessee. This is a rural, suburban, and urban phenomenon in our state.</p> <p>With roots in Stonewall, these celebrations of the LGBTQ community grew in the 1970s and continue to provide a touchpoint of the year for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.</p> <p>While Pride celebrations cannot of themselves stop the discrimination that LGBTQ people face in Tennessee, they are a powerful way to banish the shame put upon people about their identities.</p> <p>I will continue to celebrate Pride.
