Expanding/closing primaries
Dear [Your Elected Official],

I am writing to respectfully urge you to support HB714  and oppose HB220.

A single party ballot would work to bring power back to the people and away from the party systems. Undeclared voters, who make up the majority of New Hampshire’s electorate, would benefit by no longer having to declare a party they do not fully align with before voting, or go through the hassle of undeclaring after voting. Every voter will have the opportunity to vote for the candidate whose values align most closely with theirs, regardless of partisan affiliation. HB 714 will work to strengthen the integrity of the electoral system as a whole, motivating candidates to appeal to voters beyond the party line.

HB220 would do the exact opposite, restricting primary elections to partisan voters only. In a state where Independent voters make up nearly 40% of the electorate, passing HB 220 would blatantly disenfranchise countless undeclared Granite Staters who take great pride in voting, despite not being as radical as their partisan counterparts.

Voters have the right to equal opportunity to make their voices heard, regardless of their party affiliation. Please vote to pass HB714 and oppose HB220.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
[Your City & State]
