Dear [Your Elected Official],

<p>I urge you to vote YES on HB1051 in the K-12 Subcommittee on Tuesday.</p> <p>Book bans and restrictions have gone too far in Tennessee. Reports of sometimes hundreds of books being removed from school libraries are alarming. Authors and books seem to be more scrutinized based on demographic factors rather than literary merit. That is the wrong approach.</p> <p>Students need access to excellent books to encourage them to be life-long readers and learners. Teachers and librarians do a good job of providing those materials to the students of our state. The law needs to restore to them the trust they deserve.  This bill strikes that balance.</p> <p>Thank you for considering my views.</p>
