HB365 would require those who are unable to provide necessary documentation for proof of citizenship due to financial hardship sign a financial affidavit, swearing that they are indigent. Aside from being a blatant invasion of privacy, this bill brings back affidavits as an indirect means of proving citizenship - this directly contradicts the legislation's decision in HB1569 that affidavits cannot be used to attest citizenship.

This bill also only applies to indigent voters who were born in NH, leaving any voters of limited means who were born elsewhere without support. This bill will be costly to NH taxpayers and it fails to adequately address the problem it is meant to. Please contact your Representatives and ask them to OPPOSE HB365.
