Dear [Your Elected Official],

<p>SB937/HB1270 and SB1252/HB1262 are both bills about the use of pronouns at school and they are up in the House Education Administration Committee on Tuesday and in the Senate Education Committee on Wednesday. I urge you to vote NO on both bills.</p> <p>These bills open the door to any teacher, school employee, student, or contractor (in the case of SB937/HB1270) to demean any other teacher, school employee, student, or contractor.  They seem to say there are no consequences if someone does not treat another person with basic respect in our schools. </p> <p>Using a person's pronouns is easy, takes nothing away from anyone, and it makes the school environment safer for all teachers, school employees, and students.</p> <p>These bills offer a false sense of security to those who do not want to use other people's pronouns. While they shield them from lawsuits in state courts, they CANNOT do so in federal courts.  Encouraging teachers, school employees, contractors, and students to ignore  someone's pronouns is an invitation to expensive litigation. The Supreme Court's Bostock v. Clayton County still stands and it protects LGBTQ people in the workplace.</p> <p>Thank you for considering my views.</p>
