Summary

<p>HB385 would repeal the provisions in HB1569, passed in 2024. This legislation would reinstate the ability to register to vote by signing a sworn affidavit if the voter does not have physical proof of identity, age, citizenship, or domicile (address), or if they don&rsquo;t have photo ID when they arrive at the polls to receive their ballot.&nbsp;Prior to HB1569 being passed, voters could sign a sworn affidavit under penalty of perjury if they were registering to vote but didn&rsquo;t have all of the necessary documents.</p> <p>This is important because many voters don&rsquo;t have documents easily available and ready to bring with them to the polls &ndash; especially proof of citizenship, which can only be proven by providing a birth certificate, passport, or naturalization papers.
