I hope this message finds you well. As a resident of South Carolina and an avid deer hunter, I am writing to ask for your support of South Carolina House Bill 3872 (HB 3872), also known as the Hunting Heritage Protection Act.
This bill is a critical step in safeguarding hunting opportunities for future generations, and it’s one that I believe will have a lasting positive impact on our state’s hunting heritage. This bill seeks to ensure that hunters like myself continue to have reliable and consistent access to public lands for hunting. As it stands, HB 3872 would establish a minimum acreage of publicly owned lands that must remain open to hunters.
As a hunter, I understand how vital it is to have access to public lands where we can hunt safely and responsibly. This bill would specifically protect lands managed by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), private lands leased or managed by the SCDNR, and lands managed by the State Forestry Commission enrolled in the SCDNR’s Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Program.
HB 3872 is a crucial step in protecting hunting access here in South Carolina. States across the country have already enacted similar legislation, and this bill would place South Carolina in a strong position to continue supporting sustainable wildlife management and conservation efforts.
I kindly ask that you support this important bill and help ensure that hunting remains a protected tradition in our state. Your support will make a real difference for hunters and wildlife enthusiasts like me.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this legislation, and I sincerely hope you will lend your support to HB 3872.
