Michigan’s roads are at a crossroads. As communities across our state work to build safer, more accessible streets, a freeze on federal funding for bike lanes and essential transportation projects threatens to derail progress.

Michiganders rely on bike lanes to get to work, take their kids to school, and access local businesses safely. These projects aren’t luxuries—they are life-saving infrastructure that protect all road users, whether they’re walking, biking, or driving. Federal funding is a critical piece of making these improvements happen, and any interruption will put lives at risk.

Michigan has seen the benefits of these investments firsthand. From Grand Rapids to Detroit, and Marquette to Ann Arbor, bike lanes have reduced crashes, boosted local economies, and made our communities more livable. Stalling these projects now would be a step backward, jeopardizing the safety and mobility of residents across our state.

As a constiutent, I strongly encourage you to voice your support to preserve funding for infrastructure for bicyclists, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users. Our communities depend on it.
