I’m writing to urge you to support the Prevent Sexual Exploitation of Women and Minors Act (HB 805)—a vital bill that would hold the pornography industry accountable and help protect women and children from online exploitation.
HB 805 requires pornography websites to verify that all individuals featured in their content are at least 18 years old and have given written consent. It also provides a legal pathway for victims to have non-consensual or exploitative content removed, and imposes serious financial penalties on violators.
This legislation couldn’t be more urgent. Reports of online child sexual abuse material have skyrocketed—from just 3,000 in 1998 to over 29 million in 2021. North Carolina must act now to stop the spread of this exploitation and send a clear message: our state will protect its most vulnerable.
Please support HB 805 and take a stand for women, children, and human dignity.
