North Carolina has become the abortion capital of the Southeast. While other southern states have passed strong protections for life at conception or heartbeat, North Carolina’s 12-week abortion law has done little to stop the flood of abortions pouring into our state. In fact, since the law went into effect, abortion numbers have surged—especially from out-of-state. Guttmacher estimates over 45,000 abortions were performed here in 2023 alone. That’s a 43.7% increase since 2020. Nearly 92% of those abortions happened before 13 weeks, which means the current law fails to protect the vast majority of unborn babies.
I urge you to support the Finding Grace Family Bill (HB844), a life-saving measure that will finally bring North Carolina in line with other pro-life southern states. This bill does the following:
• Protect unborn babies after 6 weeks gestation by updating the current law from 12 weeks to 6 weeks, when a baby’s heartbeat can be detected.
• Encourage adoption over abortion by requiring the state to actively promote adoption and include adoption education in schools.
• Speed up permanency for foster children
• Expedite adoption finalization
Please support the Find Grace Family Bill (HB 844).
