Please, do not concur with the House amendment to SB468 when it comes up on the message calendar. The amendment adds public higher education to the bill.
The bill started with a different House sponsor and then changed on March 13. It passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 18 and then the full Senate on March 27. It got started and amended late in House.
Had the Senate been consulted, the amendment could have been properly vetted and maybe even considered by the Senate Education Committee for its full implications. But that did not happen.
Rather than remove that amendment on the House floor to conform with a bill already passed by the Senate, the House sponsor chose to keep a poorly vetted amendment on the bill. That is not a thoughtful approach.
Thank you for considering my views.
