Dear [Your Elected Official],

<p>The Legislature isn’t doing enough to support public education and I am writing as a concerned citizen and constituent. Schools across Washington are facing severe financial strain and our children are the ones to bear the burden. Schools face drastic student-facing budget cuts, financial oversight, and binding conditions and yet the latest House decisions fall far short of what is needed to protect students, educators, and communities. Families across the state are watching and expecting bold leadership—not half-measures.</p> <p>While both chambers proposed some improvements in how state dollars are distributed, the House watered down essential education investments to a fraction of what was originally proposed by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and passed earlier by the Senate. </p> <p>Washington is a wealthy state. There is no excuse for failing to fully fund our public schools.</p> <p>I urge you to:</p> <ul> <li>Fully fund education initiatives, including special education and transportation, without reductions or delays.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure that new revenue sources are explicitly directed to education—not swept into the general fund.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Commit to rebuilding the social safety net that supports children both inside and outside the classroom.</li> </ul> <p>Finally, with the looming threat of the federal government rolling back support for public education, Washington must lead. We need to stand firm and invest more, not less, in the future of our kids.</p>
