Medicaid health coverage is important to Nebraskans. It keeps children, seniors, people with disabilities, pregnant people, and adults with low incomes healthy so that our communities stay healthy and our hospitals stay open.
SNAP is a lifeline - it helps over 150,000 Nebraskans put food on the table.
Nebraskans want stability for longtime neighbors and whole communities – not large expenditures on family separations and sweeping enforcement of outdated immigration laws that would harm us all.
I urge my Representative to oppose any and all cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, including work requirements. Instead, Nebraskans want supportive programs that keep our families and communities healthy, supported, and together - not tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and large corporations.

The House of Representatives could soon vote again on the budget reconciliation package that will devastate health care, food access, and other basic-needs programs in order to fund tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires and sweeping deportations of longtime community members. THIS COULD BE THE FINAL VOTE ON THE BILL. Call or email your Representative and tell them Nebraska values a strong, healthy community – not helping the wealthiest get richer. Say NO to proposed policies that would: <ul> <li>Shift huge, unmanageable costs onto states to cover SNAP, risking the loss of benefits or eligibility for 150,000 Nebraskans utilizing the program.</li> <li>Implement additional SNAP work requirements on older Nebraskans up to age 64, parents of young children, former foster youth, people experiencing homelessness and veterans who are already struggling to keep food on the table and were previously exempt from these red-tape reporting barriers.</li> <li>Slash Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act, resulting in nearly 17 million people losing health insurance coverage and costs going up for the rest.</li> <ul> <li>These proposals include attacks on Nebraska’s voter-approved Medicaid expansion, which provides more than 65,000 Nebraskans with life-saving health care coverage, and imposing unnecessary work requirements that will put up to 40,000 Nebraskans at risk of losing their health care.</li> </ul> <li>End Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage for Nebraska children and families who are refugees, asylees, certain victims of domestic violence and trafficking and people granted humanitarian protection.</li> <li>Spend an unprecedented $126 billion for family detention and jailing on an unimaginable scale, and for sweeping and unproductive enforcement of long-outdated immigration laws – separating local neighbors and families, and destabilizing whole communities.</li> <li>Take the Child Tax Credit away from US citizen children with parents who are stuck in immigration limbo.</li> <li>Increase the Child Tax Credit for higher income families while leaving out at least 17 million of the lowest-income children.</li> </ul> Make a call or send an email!
