YES on SB 627 No Secret Police Act!

As your constituent I ask you to vote YES on SB 627, the No Secret Police Act.
SB 627 prohibits law enforcement at all levels operating in California from covering their faces while conducting operations, with limited exemptions for masking for medical or fire-related reasons. The bill exempts SWAT and undercover officers from this requirement.
This bill is necessary because in recent months federal law enforcement officials have conducted raids in California while covering their faces and at times their badges, names and other identifying information.  They sometimes wear jackets stating "Police" - in effect impersonating local law enforcement. 
California has the authority and obligation to regulate conduct within its borders that affects the public's safety and well-being. When masked, unidentified and armed agents disrupt communities and take members of the public with out warrant or warning, it undermines public safety and creates an atmosphere of chaos, fear and mistrust.
Again, I urge you to vote YES on this important bill, SB 627.
