Tell Your Lawmaker: Fund Schools. Don’t Bury Homeowners in Property Taxes.
I’m writing to urge you to fully fund K-12 public education in the 2025–27 state budget. It’s the only way to protect homeowners, farmers, and small businesses from automatic and unaffordable property tax hikes.
We rely too heavily on property taxes to fund education. Even with the strict levy limits, that have saved taxpayers over $14 billion, we still rank 8th highest in the country. The referendum process has been our only safeguard, giving voters the right to decide whether to raise our own property taxes.
Now, that decision is gone.
A recent change in state law allows school districts to raise taxes without voter approval unless the state fully funds education. If you don’t act, we’ll see higher property taxes, with no say in the process.
My property taxes are too high, please help, fully fund the schools, don’t bury me in property taxes.
