As the US attempts to advance negotiations for a ceasefire and a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, one of Ukraine’s key conditions is the safe return of these abducted children. By kidnapping over 19,546 children from Ukraine, Russia is simultaneously erasing these children’s identities as Ukrainians while holding them hostage. The Abducted Ukrainian Children Recovery and Accountability Act would enhance US support for identifying and recovering Ukrainian children who were abducted by Russia, and to hold accountable those who are responsible for such abductions. Furthermore, it would fund these efforts by utilizing Russian sovereign assets already frozen in US, in accordance to the already passed REPO Act.
