As your constituent, I'm urging you to protect and invest in Medicaid and Medicare. The recently passed budget bill slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid and Medicare - putting the health and lives of millions at risk if Congress does not act to prevent it. These are the largest health care cuts in our nations's history, and they will cause more than 15 million people to lose health coverage, resulting in tens of thousands of preventable deaths each year.
Medicaid is a lifeline for over 71 million people and approximately 67 million people are enrolled in Medicare. These programs enjoy broad bipartisan support because they work. Congress must reverse course and reject an agenda that takes health care from families to give tax breaks to the wealthy. Please do the right thing, undo the harm from the recent budget bill, and protect Medicaid and Medicare.
