As a constituent in your district, I am writing to ask that you OPPOSE S.2162, the Kangaroo Protection Act.
H.R.1992/S.2162 is the animal rights agenda of animal abolition masquerading as conservation. Do NOT be fooled.
H.R.1992/S.2162 is being pushed aggressively by animal rights extremist groups whose true agenda is to end all forms of hunting, animal use, and animal commerce — while raising money to line their pockets promoting this campaign -- not just "protect kangaroos."
These animal rights groups are using emotional imagery to manipulate the public against kangaroo leather, but fails to acknowledge the reality: in Australia, kangaroo harvests are part of a long-standing, science-based wildlife management system.
Well-regulated hunting sustains animal populations by maintaining ecological balance and reducing overpopulation that can lead to starvation, disease, and environmental degradation.
Many hunters are committed conservationists — their license fees, taxes, and conservation investments fund wildlife research, habitat restoration, and anti-poaching programs.
In the U.S., regulated hunting has restored species like wild turkeys, elk, and white-tailed deer from near extinction to thriving populations.
If Congress bans kangaroo leather today, tomorrow it could be bison hides, deer antlers, or other sustainably sourced animal products.
This bill is not about one species — it’s about eroding the principle of animal use and wildlife management.
Please OPPOSE H.R.1992/S.2162.
