To Members of the U.S. Congress,

<h3>We, the undersigned, urge Congress to take immediate action to ensure that no slaughterhouse ever operates again on the former Manning Beef property in Pico Rivera, California.</h3> <h3>For nearly 100 years, this site was the scene of repeated cruelty, including cows being shocked, shot multiple times, and butchered while still showing signs of life.</h3> <h3>Investigations documented ongoing violations of humane handling laws while the facility supplied meat to federal child nutrition programs.</h3> <h3>Now that Manning Beef has closed, we have an opportunity to make that closure permanent.</h3> <h3>Allowing another slaughterhouse to take its place would continue a cycle of cruelty and undermine public trust in federally supported food programs.</h3> <h3>Please act now to prohibit the reopening of any slaughterhouse on this property and ensure this site never again becomes a place of suffering.</h3>
