Steven C. Bondy, Ambassador of the U.S to the Kingdom of Bahrain
Dear U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, Steven C. Bondy,
I am writing to ask for your help in ending needless cruelty to animals in Bahrain.
Despite Bahrain’s image as a modern and welcoming nation, reports continue of dogs being shot, poisoned, and beaten. These acts cause immense suffering and stand in stark contrast to the compassion and mercy that Bahrain wishes to be known for.
I and millions more do not understand why international standards for the humane treatment of stray animals are not being followed, especially when Bahrain has the financial resources to do so.
I am asking you to please do everything in your power as the U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, to help end these needless and inhumane killings immediately.
As most of the world knows, dogs are loving, intelligent animals who can suffer and feel pain just like us.
There are many well-established, effective ways to humanely deal with the problem of stray animals. For example:
1. Establishing and supporting more low cost animal adoption centers.
2. Promoting the spaying and neutering of animals.
3. Discouraging the breeding of dogs and cats.
4. Establishment of low cost animal sanctuaries.
As the highly respected U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom nation of Bahrain, you carry great weight, and we urge you to all that you can, to convince Bahrain officials, to immediately end these inhumane and completely needless killings.
