Governor Ferguson indicated that his budget for the 2026 short legislative session will be cuts only, putting education funding in danger.

According to the OSPI K–12 Funding Equity Workgroup 2025 Annual Report, the first action that should be taken by the state legislators should be to, “Address funding adequacy for current needs and requirements immediately…” While there may be a slowing of the current birthrate, it does not justify any cuts to the already strained education budget. More funding is still drastically needed in classrooms across the state.

Even with the legislative advancements made in 2025 our current funding model does not fully cover the real costs of running schools. Costs for essential services like mental health supports, individualized learning, and basic operations continue to rise and are forcing many districts to make cuts that disproportionately affect students who need the most support.

Tell Governor Ferguson that our children’s future should not be cut.
