<p>As a Pennsylvania resident, I urge you to act now to protect students and educators from radon exposure in our schools. Pennsylvania consistently records some of the highest radon levels in the nation, and radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. This is a preventable hazard, and routine testing is both affordable and effective.</p> <p>Legislation such as HB 289 and SB 760 will help ensure that every school is tested and that mitigation plans are implemented when needed. Recent state budget allocations for school infrastructure and safety provide immediate opportunities to fund these efforts.</p> <p>No child or school employee should face elevated cancer risk simply by walking into a classroom. Please make radon testing and mitigation a priority in both legislation and budget negotiations this session.</p> <p>Thank you for your attention to this urgent health issue.</p>
