Tell the legislature to keep license plate money in the disability community!

I'm writing as both a constituent and a person with a disability to ask you to ensure that the money from the Disability Funding Committee's license plate sales continue to be used for their originally intended purpose (application assistance and new and innovative programs that serve people with disabilities) AND that you support CDLE's proposal to move the Committee to a special purpose authority. I understand that this is a hard budget year and many non disability related causes and people would like to use that money to fund their own priorities.
The Colorado Disability Funding Committee (CDFC) was created in 2016 after the disability community was told by the legislature that there wasn't enough money to fund our priorities. The bill that created the fund gave the Committee the right to sell certain personalized license plates. A few years later, the Committee was allowed to collect the fee on a newly created set of historical license plates with black, red and blue backgrounds.
The money collected by the Committee is used for grants to fund application assistance and other new and innovative programs to benefit people with disabilities. The grants are awarded by the Committee, which is made up of thirteen members, more than half of whom have to be people with disabilities or caregivers. This Committee was created by people with disabilities to benefit people with disabilities.
Please support the disability community by:
1. Rejecting any and all attempts to use the money in the cash fund for things that are not the originally intended purpose, may not benefit people with disabilities, and have not been identified by people with disabilities as a priority
2. Actively supporting moving the Committee to a special purpose authority.
