They are captured from streets and neighborhoods, drugged to weaken them, bound to silence their cries, and transported in sacks with little air or water.</h3> <h3>Police raids have rescued some, but dozens die from prolonged starvation and suffocation. Capturing, transporting, and killing dogs for meat is illegal, yet traffickers operate openly because enforcement is weak.</h3> <h3>We urge the Director General of Police, Assam, to block known smuggling routes, conduct regular vehicle inspections, seize transportation used in this trade, and arrest those responsible.</h3> <h3>All individuals found guilty must face prosecution to prevent further cruelty. Vigorous enforcement can save dogs from being stolen, silenced, and forced to suffer.</h3>
