I am urging you to keep funding for the Regional Farm to Food Bank (RF2FB) Program in HB 2. This 2 million dollar appropriation will ensure our vital investment in local food and families continues.
New Mexico's Regional Farm to Food Bank Program is a proven success. From 2022-2025, the program established a new market for farmers, ranchers, and other food producers. The program contributed over $4.6 Million to New Mexico’s agricultural economy.
- 200 farmers & ranchers benefited from sales through the network.
- 82% of purchases were sourced from small and mid-scale food producers.
- Critically aligned with New Mexico's Approved Supplier Program.
This appropriation will continue to strengthen economic opportunities.
Local foods bought through the program are successfully distributed through the food-security network to food banks and food pantries.
- Over 250 food distribution sites received local foods in all 33 counties.
- Nutritious, culturally relevant foods reach more New Mexicans.
- Prioritizes expanded food access.
Keep the $2 million appropriation for the Regional Farm to Food Bank Program in HB 2, to ensure the successful continuation of this program for our local farmers and families.
