<h3>We urge the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to take immediate and decisive action to stop the illegal cat meat trade in China.</h3> <h3><br />Investigations have documented cats being captured, confined in overcrowded crates, transported long distances without food or water, and sold for meat through illegal markets.</h3> <h3>Although selling cat meat is prohibited, weak enforcement and unclear legal protections allow traffickers to continue operating with little consequence.</h3> <h3><br />We call on MARA to strengthen enforcement against illegal transport and slaughter of cats, coordinate with local authorities to shut down trafficking routes, and pursue prosecution of individuals involved in this trade.</h3> <h3>Clear guidance and accountability are needed to prevent cats from being treated as unregulated commodities.</h3> <h3><br />Strong enforcement will deter abuse, protect public food safety, and end a system that allows large-scale cruelty to continue.</h3>
