HB 323 eliminates the use of student IDs to receive a ballot. But if someone is already registered to vote, why should it matter what kind of photo ID they show at the polls? At that point in the process, voters are simply proving they are who they say they are. Both a state-issued ID and a student ID can do that.

New Hampshire is home to many colleges and universities. Creating barriers for student voters doesn’t protect elections, but it does invite confusion, legal challenges, and lawsuits. If passed, this bill would ultimately work to disproportionately disenfranchise young voters.

This bill solves a problem that doesn’t exist and risks turning eligible voters away. π¨ Please write to your State Senator ahead of the full Senate vote, which is likely to take place on Thursday, March 5. π¨
