<p>Dear Members of the State, Civic, Military & Veterans Affairs Committee,</p> <p>I am writing to urge you to oppose HB26-1113.</p> <p>This is not a minor “modernization” bill. It makes sweeping changes to Colorado’s election system, including lengthening ballot circulation timelines, expanding drop box access, weakening voter challenge mechanisms, and increasing centralized control over local processes.</p> <p>At a time when public confidence in elections demands greater transparency and stronger safeguards, this bill moves in the opposite direction. Longer ballot circulation means more ballots in transit and less certainty about chain of custody. Eliminating long-standing voter challenge provisions removes an important citizen-level safeguard.</p> <p>Omnibus election bills that bundle major procedural changes deserve careful scrutiny and open debate, not quiet advancement under the label of routine cleanup.</p> <p>Colorado voters expect transparency, accountability, and integrity in our elections. HB26-1113 undermines those principles.</p> <p>Please vote NO.</p>
