Dear [Your Elected Official],

<p>I am writing to urge you to oppose Senate Bill 26-135, which would redirect TABOR refund dollars away from Colorado taxpayers if passed on the November ballot.</p> <p>The Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights exists to protect working families from unchecked government growth. When the state collects more revenue than it is allowed to spend, those funds are supposed to be returned to the people who paid them.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">SB26-135 would undermine that protection by allowing billions of dollars that would otherwise be refunded to taxpayers to be retained and spent by the state.</span></p> <p>Colorado families are already dealing with rising costs of living. Eliminating TABOR refunds would take even more money out of their pockets.</p> <p>If the state believes education funding should increase, lawmakers should prioritize spending within the existing budget rather than taking away taxpayer refunds that belong to the people of Colorado.</p> <p><strong>Please stand up for taxpayers and vote NO on SB26-135.</strong></p>
