<p>I urge you to vote NO on SB2409 on March 24 in the State & Local Government Committee.</p> <p>This private right of action section of this bill is excessive, allowing parties to sue 6 years after a violation. It paints a target on all government employees. </p> <p>Local governments support a variety of cultural emblems and flags and support a variety of cultural and civic observances. A bill that singles out Pride symbols and celebrations for exclusion displays incredible animus and it would face formidle challenges in court on First Amendment grounds. It is a form of micromanaging overreach.</p> <p>This bill could have the unintended consequences of banning other uses of rainbow symbolism, as was pointed out in the House Public Service Subcommittee.</p> <p>Thank you for considering my views.</p>
