<p>I urge you to vote NO on HB1666 in the Education Committee.</p> <p>This bill will undermine teachers and principals trying to establish a respectful environment for everyone. It will contribute to workplace harassment and students being bullied. It would open the door to students refusing to call a school resource officer "Deputy" or a principal who had earned a doctorate in education "Dr." Both "Deputy" and "Dr." are honorifics.</p> <p>In addition, I hope by now that you have heard that on March 18 WKRN ran a story that quotes official Tennessee General Assembly video of the sponsor when he first presented the bill saying that it was about one instructor in his county. No matter what the sponsor says, video from the House Public Service Subcommittee shows it all too clearly.</p> <p>To attempt to pass a state law taking aim at someone who is helping children in Tennessee is unworthy of the Tennessee House of Representatives. The sponsor needs to show support for Tennessee instructors and students. This bill should be withdrawn. </p> <p>Thank you for considering my views.</p>
