Please oppose the SAVE America Act and similar efforts to restrict voting access.

This bill creates significant new barriers for eligible Americans trying to register to vote, and it effectively eliminates widely used options like online and mail-in registration.

For many Americans, overcoming these hurdles would not be a simple administrative step. Tens of millions of eligible voters do not have easy access to documents like passports or birth certificates, and obtaining them can require time, travel, and additional expense.

Certain vulnerable groups would be disproportionately impacted including: military families, married women, trans and nonbinary people, Americans recovering from natural disasters, rural voters, and Native Americans. In addition, older adults, people with disabilities, and others who cannot easily appear in person would face new obstacles.

At a time when most Americans register through convenient and secure systems outside of election offices, shifting to an in-person documentation requirement would be a major step backward.

Vote NO on the SAVE America Act.

Summary

The SAVE America Act is an attack on the very core of American values – the right to vote. Despite being framed as a simple “voter ID” measure, this bill goes much further. It requires Americans to present specific citizenship documents – like a passport or birth certificate – in person just to register or update their voter registration, effectively eliminating online and mail-in registration systems that millions rely on. President Trump has said passing this bill would “guarantee the midterms” which is why he has made it his “number one priority.” We cannot allow politicians to decide who gets to participate in our democracy.
