I’m writing as a constituent in support of our local pharmacies. I’m very concerned about the increasing number of closures and know how essential they are to the health of our communities. 
Nearly half—HALF—of Minnesota’s pharmacies have shut down in the past decade, many of them independently owned. More of them were lost last year, and 4 have already closed in 2026. When a pharmacy closes, patients like me are often forced to travel great distances, which leads to missed medications (and vaccinations, cases of high blood pressure, counseling, etc.) and, in turn, poorer health outcomes. 
The Minnesota Legislature needs to act, THIS session. It is absolutely essential to keeping local pharmacies open. Bills that address chronic under-reimbursement from pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) are KEY to ensuring that community pharmacy care remains accessible and affordable to Minnesotans. A future Minnesota in which independent pharmacies and their patients aren't just able to survive, but thrive, is possible with the passing of the newly introduced Minnesota Fair Pharmacy Reimbursement Act (HF3922 / SF3299).
Without action, more pharmacies will disappear, and access to life-saving healthcare will become even more difficult. Please pledge your support for this CRITCAL legislation THIS session! Minnesotan patients and local pharmacy providers appreciate it.

Summary

For years, independent pharmacists have faced a lack of action from both our state legislators and the U.S. Congress, who have continued to pass up opportunity after opportunity to enact meaningful legislation to protect the longevity of community pharmacies.  The community pharmacy infrastructure across our state is crumbling: pharmacies, both independent and chain, are closing due to chronic under-reimbursement; pharmacy workers are burned out from poor staffing and an increasing workload; and pharmacy owners continue to face the daily struggle of striking the precarious balance between taking care of our patients and keeping our doors open and the lights on. Pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) abuse continues to be THE driving force behind this systemic problem. We need our legislators to FIGHT BACK WITH US, NOW. A future Minnesota in which independent pharmacies and their patients aren't just able to survive, but thrive, is possible with the passing of the newly introduced Minnesota Fair Pharmacy Reimbursement Act (<a href="https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/94/2026/0/HF/3922/">HF3922</a> / <a href="https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/94/2025/0/SF/3299/">SF3299</a>). If passed, this comprehensive legislation will: <ul> <li>Ensure fair reimbursement to pharmacies based on a transparent index pricing model and state survey-determined professional dispensing fee</li> <li>End abusive PBM tactics that restrict patient access to essential community pharmacy care</li> <li>Strengthen pharmacy viability and protect patient access by making sure that pharmacies no longer have to pay to care for their patients</li> <li>Hold PBMs accountable for access and affordability—things they promise daily that they're bringing to a system that continues to see rapidly increasing drug prices and premiums while PBMs record record-breaking multi-billion-dollar profits.</li> <li>Bring transparency to PBM pricing practices, which currently exist in a black box of "proprietary information," further complicated by rebate schemes and numerous fees charged to pharmacies.</li> </ul> Contact your MN Representative and Senator TODAY to ask that they support this CRITICAL legislation to save community pharmacy! Our state—its patients, healthcare providers, AND payers—need this, now more than ever.
