As your constituent, I want to urge you to please prioritize maternal health, including midwives, birth centers, and mental health support. We still have a lot of work to do to reverse our maternal health crisis, and maintain access to health care in the face of so many maternity care closures. Our communitities need:
- MassHealth reimbursement for midwifery care -- ensuring the 2024 Maternal Health Law applies to all MassHealth plans (Amendment #1427)
- Midwife workforce development funding (Amendment #359)
- Implementation of the 2024 Midwifery and Maternal Health Law (Amendment #1695)
- Freestanding birth center grants (Amendments #353, 553, 912)
- Moms Matter Act community based mental health support grants (Amendment #1063)
- Tufts Center for Maternal Health Advancement, which provides critical research, policy, and community engagement (Amendment #1716)
Supporting implementation of the 2024 Midwifery and Maternal Health Law, and the opportunities it created, will ensure that the benefits reach families across Massachusetts!
