As your constituent, I want to urge you to please prioritize maternal health in the FY27 budget. We still have a lot of work to do to reverse our maternal health crisis, and maintain access to health care in the face of so many maternity care closures. Our communitities need:
- Midwife workforce development fund -- to fund midwifery education and support a diverse maternal health workforce (Amendment #526)
- Midwives reimbursement correction -- ensuring the 2024 Maternal Health Law applies to all MassHealth plans (Amendment #416)
- Neighborhood Birth Center -- building community birth centers in Eastern Massachusetts (Amendment #517)
- Center for Maternal Health Advancement -- providing critical research, policy, and community engagement (Amendment #577)
These amendments will realize the opportunities of the 2024 Midwifery and Maternal Health Law, and make sure the benefits of midwifery and birth centers reach families across Massachusetts!
