Dear Sports Organization,
San Francisco Giants pitchers Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker were reportedly warned by Major League Baseball after writing Genesis 9:12–16 on their Pride Night caps as an expression of Christian faith. Roupp later explained that the passage reflects God’s covenant, faithfulness, and mercy. The warning has raised concerns among many faith-driven athletes and fans who believe Christian players should be free to express their faith peacefully and respectfully without fear of discipline. When Bible verses become a disciplinary issue while other personal messages, causes, and viewpoints are welcomed or accommodated, it creates the perception that Christian faith is treated differently. Major League Baseball should affirm that players are free to live and express their faith as part of the diversity that exists throughout the game.
We represent millions of faith-driven consumers who support professional sports and believe athletes should be free to live and speak according to their faith without fear of punishment. We are not asking for special treatment—only equal respect. When faith is pushed aside, it becomes invisible. But when we stand together, it becomes a voice that cannot be ignored. We urge you to ensure that faith-driven athletes and fans are welcomed, respected and free to live with integrity—on and off the field. Add us in.
Signed,
