Support the Sanctioning Russia Act

As one of your consitutuents, I urge you to support the Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, HR 10076.
This bipartisan legislation targets the financial and supply networks that economically fuel Russia’s war against Ukraine, including its defense-industrial base, shadow fleet, sanctions evaders, and foreign enablers. Without money to pour into weapons, Russia will be pressured to end this war, without putting any economic burden on the American taxpayer.
The bill has been in the works for nearly two years, with bipartisan support in the Senate, where it passed 86-11. Its tariff provisions are narrowly focused on the top five purchasers of Russian energy and countries most responsible for facilitating sanctions evasion, which limits its effects to what is necessary, protecting global supply chains.
This legislation is even more important after recent news of a Russian attack which killed 38 civilians. It is one of many violent attacks on Ukrainian civilians which must be stopped. The provisions of HR 10076 target Russia economically, which will pressure them to stop their attacks.
Many argue that it is the Russian government that is the problem, and that the Russian people should not suffer financially for the actions of their government. Although these are understandable concerns, a disproportionate amount of Russia's GDP goes into its war effort, which in itself hurts the Russan people through taking their money for the war effort. Supporting this legislation will not hurt the American taxpayer, the Russian people, or the Ukrainian people. The only ones it will truly affect are the Russian government and those who continue to directly enable its war.
Having passed 86-11 in the Senate and with White House backing, the House can pass this vital legislation which will weaken Putin’s ability to wage war and bring peace to Ukraine. Please work to bring this bill to the floor without delay and vote for its passage.
