Action: 2027 Interim Pass Safe Schools Legislation

One of our top priorities must be to keep our children safe at school! In the wake of the deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School, and with the rise in gun violence, particularly from young people, it is imperative that you pass Safe Schools legislation.

I urge you to support expanding the Safe Schools Program to provide state aid to ALL students irrespective of what school they attend—public, charter, nonpublic or tribal. The funding provided can be used for security personnel, building enhancement, violence prevention programs, and mental health initiatives. School safety should be a preeminent issue, and we must ensure that all students have access to safe learning environments.

Please work collaboratively with other elected leaders on an immediate special session to pass a bill that provides additional funding to this program. Our children cannot wait.
