<p>I'm a constituent and a member of the League of Michigan Bicyclists. I'm writing to ask you to support HB 6339 and HB 6340.</p> <p>E-motos are sold as e-bikes, but they aren't. They're throttle-powered, often over 750 watts, and capable of speeds no e-bike can legally reach. That confusion puts riders and pedestrians at risk, and it lets real e-bikes get lumped in with vehicles they have nothing to do with.</p> <p>HB 6339 sets certification standards so buyers know what they're getting. HB 6340 closes the loophole by classifying these throttle-powered vehicles as electric mopeds or electric motorcycles, so they finally fall under the registration and licensing rules Michigan already applies to mopeds and motorcycles.</p> <p>Please support both bills, and ask Chair Outman to schedule a hearing in Transportation and Infrastructure.</p>
