Dear [Your Elected Official],

I am writing to ask you to cosponsor the Stop The Settlements Act, introduced by Representatives Castro, Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, and Escobar.

The Israeli government has rapidly advanced a policy of de facto annexation in the West Bank. Since 2023, we have seen the establishment of 185 new outposts, over 100 new settlements created, over 58,000 new housing units advanced, and 25,959 dunams were declared state land. And now, the government is moving to finalize construction in E1, one of the most consequential settlement projects in the West Bank.

These developments reflect a systematic Israeli government policy intended to deepen control over the West Bank and advance de facto annexation. They require a comprehensive response, not a piecemeal approach.

The Stop The Settlements Act would use restrictions on settlement goods and sanctions to deter the construction of new settlements or expansion of existing settlements and outposts. This legislation would complement and build on the steps being taken by US allies, including the UK, France, Canada, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Please cosponsor the Stop The Settlements Act and help make clear that the United States will not stand by as settlement expansion further undermines the prospects for peace.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]
