It’s been one year since most SNAP cuts from H.R.1 - the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” - were implemented in Nebraska (learn more at neappleseed.org/SNAPLosses). Today, we’re seeing the predicted and severe human impact of these cuts as people lose access to SNAP and struggle to feed themselves and their families. All the while, prices for everyday necessities continue to climb adding to the affordability crisis.

Help us and our neighbors by sending a message to your senator: Nebraska needs to take action to meet this man-made crisis. We need to roll back optional, excessive verification requirements, support local food pantries, and fill in the gaps left by federal cuts. When the federal government shirks its responsibilities, Nebraska must live up to its values and support our most vulnerable.

Help make sure your state senator knows the human cost of SNAP losses in Nebraska. Tell them our state needs to… (choose a few to share):

Put an end to Nebraska’s new excessive verification requirements for all SNAP applicants since they’re leading to a huge number of otherwise-eligible people losing their SNAP.

Support the 40,000 Nebraskans who have lost SNAP since H.R.1 passed who still need food. Over half of these SNAP losses are kids aged 0-18.

Support immigrant community members like refugees, asylees, and victims of trafficking - people who came to the US to escape war, violence, and hardship who are now ineligible for benefits.

Support veterans, people who are homeless, and former foster youth who now have to do burdensome work requirements to maintain SNAP.

Make up for the $7 million a month we’re losing in SNAP benefits that were going to support local grocers, farmers and economically benefit our communities.

Support kids at schools who are losing automatic eligibility for free meals through SNAP and their schools who may have to end universal free meals programs.

Other - Add your own!

Thank you for supporting more Nebraskans getting the food they need!
